Autodesk Revit Student Version 2023 Download for Mac/PC

Did you know that Autodesk has an education program that enables you to download fully functional software such as Revit for free? In this quick guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to download Revit student version without paying high monthly subscriptions.

Autodesk is a software development company behind Revit. Their education program offers students and teachers the ability to use some of their products without limits to learn and get familiar with how they work. The software accessed through this method is identical to the commercial version regarding features and toolsets. However, as a company offering professional services for profit, by using the education version of Revit for commercial purposes, you’ll run into the risk of getting legal action.

Run Microsoft apps on Mac with Parallels (50% OFF for students).

Besides Revit, in the education program, you can access other popular products such as Maya, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, and many more. The list of available products constantly changes.

What is Revit?

Revit is a 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) software used to design, visualize and document construction projects. It lets you create realistic and high-quality buildings and infrastructure. It is an essential tool for structural engineers, architects, designers, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineers and contractors. The latest Revit 2023 student version was released in March 2022. It’s worth noting that it’s compatible with AutoCAD, meaning that you can seamlessly switch between the two.

Regular vs student version

There are two main differences:

  1. In the title bar of the application, it will display the “STUDENT VERSION” text
  2. Once you print a drawing, the text “FOR EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY” will be added

Other than that, everything is the same as the regular version.

To get the educational license and access the student version, the only requirement is that you attend or teach at a qualified educational institution or act on behalf of one. Once verified, you will get access to the education account and a 1-year license. The account is subject to manual review every year to check if you are still a student or a teacher. If you pass the yearly verification, you can extend the license for another year.

On top of that, Autodesk offers free online courses for most of its products. Once you access the program, you can start with this course to learn the fundamentals of Revit. There are plenty of beginner and advanced tutorials available on YouTube as well.

System requirements

Like every 3D modeling program, Revit is not lightweight. Below is the system requirement balanced between price and performance.

  • Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • CPU Type: 2.5GHz or Higher (Intel i-Series, AMD, Xeon, Ryzen, Ryzen Threadripper PRO). High CPU is required as multiple cores are used for many tasks.
  • Screen resolution: 1680px x 1050px minimum
  • Disk space: 30GB of available disk memory
  • Graphic card: minimum 4GB of video memory with DirectX 11 capability and Shader Model 5

The software might run on weaker computers, but the load performance will be noticeable.

Revit is not available for Mac devices, only for Windows PC.
