Sage 50 Student Version Free Download Guide (Mac/Windows)

Sage 50 is accounting software designed with flexibility and customizability in mind to give business owners complete financial control. Formerly known as Peachtree, it makes everyday accounting tasks easier and provides helpful business insights through intuitive reporting.

This guide will cover the steps to access the latest version of Sage 50 for students and teachers. It is especially helpful for students attending business and economics schools. We will cover how to download, install and activate the student license of the software.

Sage50 is the perfect accounting solution for businesses of any size as it includes features such as invoicing and bill tracking, expense and inventory management, automated bank reconciliation, payrolls, budgeting, and much more. On top of that, it is fully compatible with Microsoft Office 365. It is available as a cloud and downloadable desktop version for PC and macOS users.

Run Microsoft apps on Mac with Parallels (50% OFF for students).

Without a doubt, the application is considered to be the leading and the most trusted software in the accounting software field. As a subscriber, you also access Sage University on-demand courses to improve your accounting skills.

The pricing starts from $10 a month for the entry-level “self-accounting” package for self-employed and micro businesses. While the regular Sage accounting plan for small businesses starts from $25 a month. All plans come with a 30-day free trial period without the need to give your credit card information upfront.

Sage Education Program for students

Getting licensed and certified for popular software within your field of study is an excellent way to attract the attention of big companies. Sage’s Education Program not only allows you to use the most popular accounting software for free but to learn from accounting experts and get certified.

Three package options are available as student versions:

  • Sage Accounting (cloud-based)
  • Sage 50 Accounting (desktop-based)
  • Sage 300

The educational version of the Sage 50 accounting program is available for 14 months after the registration date, while the Sage Accounting plan is valid for 12 months. The Sage 300 gives you 400-day access after the installation date.

An important thing to note is that data from other program versions can NOT be transferred and opened in the education version. This is to avoid people gaming the system. However, the other way around is possible. After the student version period expires, if you purchase the regular license, you will be able to transfer saved data from the educational to the regular version.

The be approved, you must register and prove that you are a student by providing the required documents during the registration process. The approval is not immediate, as it will take up to 2 business days to receive a response. We recommend using the .edu email address from your school.

Sage for teachers

Many students struggle to provide practical expertise to employers after they graduate. Educational institutions can apply for a membership and get free access to the teacher version of the software that can be installed on every device in the school. This will give students real-world skills and the practical training companies are looking for.

We suggest asking your teacher to request access on a school level before applying for the student version. Instructors can improve their curriculum with the help of Sage’s educator training, online community, and support. The access period is the same as with the student version. Educators can apply here.
